We were fortunate to have Lisa Oliver in to give a Djembe workshop to a few students in years 7-9.
Lisa gave us a brief history of African drumming and about the actual Djembe drum.
We were first taught how to hold the Djembe and different hand movements to use. After this we were taught different rhythms to play in unison and then played them in sections to create poly-rhythms.
Some of us added African dancing to the final session, it was a very enjoyable day for all involved.
