Safeguarding – Procedural Changes

Dear Parent / Carer

Sir John Nelthorpe school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. With this in mind we are introducing a number of procedural changes to the school to ensure that your children are safe during their time at school.

The changes will be implemented from Monday 6th February. From this date the main gates at Grammar School Road will be locked during the school day and the visitor reception desk will be re-located to the Wrawby Road (lower school) office. The impact on parents and students is as follows:

  • Medical / planned appointments - students signing in or out for planned appointments should be dropped off / collected from Wrawby Road (lower school)
  • Late arrivals – students arriving to school late (after 8:45am) will need to sign in at the Wrawby Road (lower school) office. Students will be unable to gain pedestrian access to Grammar School Road after this time. (For instances of bus delays, a member of staff will ensure that students are given access)
  • Illness – students who are being collected due to illness may still be collected from either site (dependent upon their location at the time). Parents collecting students should park in the visitor car park on Grammar School Road and press the intercom on the pedestrian gate. This will be clearly signposted. Your child will be escorted to the gate for you to collect.

I hope as parents / carers you will be supportive of the changes we are implementing. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to call the school or email admin@nelthorpe.org.uk

Yours sincerely

Mr R Biglands
Headteacher
