Humber Games Table Tennis - Champions!!

Six Sir John Nelthorpe students represented north Lincolnshire in the Humber games individual table tennis tournament after qualifying from the local tournament. The standard was extremely high and the hull schools were, as always in this competition, the favourites to win.

In the u16 boys Jack Raines and Sam Aynsley were the only Y9s competing and did very well against tough opposition. Jack finished 3rd in his group and then in the next round all the 3rd placed players battled out for positions jack won that group to see him finish 9th out of 16. Sam was in the group with the eventual winner and finished bottom of his group and ended up 14th out of 16 despite playing some fantastic table tennis and showing real skill!

Jess Bray finished 2nd in her group with the eventual winner topping her group but Jess won her quarter final before narrowly losing 3-2 on games in the semi final. Again most of the girls were Y10/11 so a great achievement.

Tom Roche (14th) and Alastair McNeil (12th) competed in the u13s both played very well against tough opposition.

Finally, Millie Smith returned hoping to better her quarter final exit last year and cruised though her group winning all three matches 3-0 hardly losing a point. In the quarter finals again another 3-0 win. In the semi final against a very good player she again won 3-0 to set up a final with a girl from St Marys (host school) despite her nerves playing in front of a big crowd Millie edged the first game 12-10 before winning the next two 11-7, 11-5 to be crowned champion!!

Huge congratulations to all of the students on their achievements especially Millie! Well done!!
