At Sir John Nelthorpe School we run an annual trip to France for Year 7 students which aims to increase their interest in the subject as well as their linguistic ability and of course to have fun.
In July 2016, 74 pupils & 9 adult accompanying staff stayed at the Hotel du Moulin aux Draps which is owned by the school travel company Voyager and is situated just outside Boulogne.
We visited places of interest in the local area including a chocolate factory, a traditional village bakery, Nausicaa-the sea life centre and played games on the beach at Boulogne.
We also payed our respects to World War I soldiers in a local cemetery, including visiting the grave of a fallen soldier from Brigg.
The hotel had excellent animateurs and because we had sole occupancy of the hotel, students were able to choose from a number of activities in the evening including table tennis, dodge ball, watching France play in the Euro 2016 football semi-finals on this occasion, or just chatting with friends.
The trip was a great success and enjoyed by all.
